Sangitha Krishnamurthi is a special educator, with a diploma in Autism from KPAMRC, Bangalore. She works with students with all different learning and life needs. She is a certified Search and Teach practitioner and has strong competencies in Universal Design for Learning, ADHD, mindfulness, social skills, trauma-informed classrooms/school systems. Her dissertation for the Autism Diploma was the use of technology to attain skills readiness for Grade 1 in children on the autism spectrum.
She has been an inclusive educator for more than 10 years with experience in mainstream and special schools. Besides working hands-on with children, she supports teachers through training sessions and continuing support. Using games and technology to teach are special interests that have been implemented with student groups successfully. She teaches the ADHD module at KPAMRC and IRC, institutions that train special educators in Bangalore. She won the CENTA Primary SEN track of the Teachers Olympiad 2022.
Co-founding The Teachers Collective is her response to supporting diverse learners in all classrooms and helping teachers provide safe and informed learning environments.
Before teaching, she was a Certified Public Accountant with a Masters in Accounting from American University, Washington DC and a Masters in Corporate Secretaryship from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. She worked as an auditor with Grant Thornton and in corporate financial reporting in the US. She headed the finance function at Dream A Dream, an NGO, as part of the leadership team. She writes frequently on areas of interest for online portals like Women’s Web and has published an article on Adoption Leave in Frontline.
