The Communication Series: Parliamentary Debating /Negotiation
March 2021
Categories: Uncategorized
At The Teachers Collective, we work with an average of 350 students every year in longer programs with schools, intensively teaching debating, Model UN and negotiation skills. The point of these classes is not only making one a better debater but also helping every child develop critical thinking skills, improve their logic, identify logical fallacies in their arguments and build an evidence based case on any topic discussed. We believe in learning from hands-on exercises and students get the opportunity to practice on their own and in groups in the classes.
Parliamentary Debating
This way of debating is taking off in a big way in school and college circles. There is a method to the debate and students are taught the structure as well as the skills related to structuring their arguments in these debates. This is a 5-day course with 1.5 hour sessions every day, between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm.
April 19th – 23rd, 2021
Fee: Rs. 2,500 per student
Negotiation 101
Working in groups involves negotiation. Success in schools, colleges, workplaces and any social interaction requires being able to help engineer interests-based solutions for mutual benefit. We teach Principled Negotiation with fun activities and hands-on exercises, evolved by the Harvard Negotiation Project and related work. Middle and High School students rarely get access to these skills which are usually taught at the MBA level. Our work with students in schools has shown a reduction in parent-child conflict in the crucial (and easily inflammable!) teenage years.
Also a 5-day course with 1.5 hour sessions between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm, this course runs from May 10th – 14th, 2021.
Fee: 2,500 per student
Registration for one or both courses is here.
We look forward to a rollicking time with our students in both courses! See you there!
